Three Rivers Film Festival Announces 2026 Lineup Featuring “I Play Rocky”

In its 44th year, Three Rivers Film Festival makes a splash with its lineup of parties, feature films, panels, shorts, documentaries, and more!

This year will see twenty-eight feature films and over 120 shorts that will be presented both in person and online. In-person screenings will be held in a variety of venues across the city: Harris Theater, The Lindsay Theater, and Row House Hollywood. Passes and single tickets will go on sale October 14, 2026, at FilmPittsburgh.org.

Opening night of the festival is the world premiere of Louder Than the Odds: The Mr. Smalls Story. The highly anticipated documentary about Pittsburgh’s famed music venue will screen at Mr. Smalls Theatre with an after-party across the street at The Sanctuary.

Fall is the season of splashy film festivals like New York, Toronto, and Venice. With Three Rivers Film Festival, Pittsburghers will have a chance to see some of the buzziest award movies of the year before the rest of the world. The crowd-pleaser from Toronto, I Play Rocky, will enter the ring swinging while Clarissa, the Mrs. Dalloway retelling set in Nigeria is sure to beguile the art house folks.

On top of programming some of the best of what independent filmmaking has to offer, Three Rivers Film Festival is also breaking industry norm and putting accessibility at the forefront of their programming. All feature films will be presented with open captions as means of making the theater space accessible.

“Every person deserves to experience the magic of cinema in a theater,” states Executive Director of Film Pittsburgh, Shanna Carrick, “and while English-language films are not typically presented with open captions on screen, we believe that everyone can benefit from captioning.”

No matter what kind of moviegoer you are, Three Rivers Film Festival has something for you. From the Chiller Theater program of horror selections to a Virtual Reality exhibit, fall in love with something new.

The full festival lineup is available to view, and tickets are available to purchase at FilmPittsburgh.org.
