Neon Releases Teaser for Spain’s Oscar Entry: “SIRĀT”
Sirāt, directed by Óliver Laxe, has had quite the impressive run. The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Jury Prize. Sirāt went on to play at the Toronto International, New York, Chicago International, BFI London, and many more film festivals. Along the way, it has picked up a Gotham nomination for Best Director, won the Best Film at Chicago, and Best Film at Montclair. Sirāt has also been selected as Spain’s Oscar entry.
From Neon: “A father (Sergi López) and his son arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco. They are searching for Mar — daughter and sister — who vanished months ago at one of these endless, sleepless parties. Surrounded by electronic music and a raw, unfamiliar sense of freedom, they hand out her photo again and again. Hope is fading, but they push through and follow a group of ravers heading to one last party in the desert. As they venture deeper into the burning wilderness, the journey forces them to confront their own limits.”
Sirāt opens Nov 14 in the United States with a limited engagement in Los Angeles and New York. The film will expand in 2026.
