This list is my Best First Watches of 2022, but not movies that came out in 2022. I spent an entire year not rewatching a movie, so I’ve got quite a lot to choose from.
Best First Watches: September 2022
A nightmarish combination of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Wizard of Oz. Simply deranged in a beautiful way. It’s Mia Goth’s world and we’re lucky enough to witness it.
Best First Watches: August 2022
Last month, I kept alluding to “the Amazon Prime show about baseball.” Anyone paying the smallest bit of attention could figure out that I was referring to A League of Their Own.

Yeah, some stuff didn’t age well, but Susan Sarandon in her twangy Southern accent saying the opening line of “I believe in the Church of Baseball” as gospel music plays is extraordinary.
Best First Watches: June 2022
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Watergate Scandal, I watched the very true, 100% historically accurate Dick. I went to school in the US and my AP U.S. History class absolutely taught me that the Watergate scandal was exposed by two teenage girls. Also, “You suck, Dick! Love, Deep Throat” is too iconic to be ignored for any longer.
