“Pools” Trailer Released
Every once in a while, a movie comes along and knocks you on your ass. Pools is one of those movies. It’s a transcendent ode to the lazy days of summer we’re living through now when it’s too hot to function and your sole desire is to experience the sweet reprieve of a cool, shimmery pool. That’s the premise of Pools, but as it goes on, you’ll see it’s far deeper than first glance.
I was very lucky to interview the director, Sam Hayes, earlier this year and also write a review for the film. Part of that review is featured in the trailer which is a thrill that never gets old, especially when it’s for a project I wholeheartedly believe in. Pools is a spiritual sibling to Cooper Raiff and his filmography while also speaking its own language. Every shot of Pools is more beautiful than the last, displaying colors that feel too rich to be real. To see Pools now is to experience the calm before the madness that will certainly come for Hayes and his immensely talented group of young actors.
Chicago release at the Music Box on August 22nd, NYC release at the Quad Cinema, and LA release at the NuArt on August 29th. Nationwide Expansion September 5th.
