Teaser Trailer & Art Reveal for Netflix’s “Train Dreams”

Last year, Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar worked together on Sing Sing, the based-on-a-true-story film about the impact of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts Program at Sing Sing prison. They have teamed up again for Train Dreams. Directed by Bentley with a script he co-wrote with Kwedar, Train Dreams had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to glowing reviews from critics. It currently sits at a impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and will be having its international premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival before a limited theatrical run beginning on November 7th. Ultimately, Train Dreams will be available on Netflix on November 21.

Train Dreams stars Joel Edgerton (who’s also an Executive Producer) alongside Academy Award nominees Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, and William H. Macy. The film also features a stunning score composed by Academy Award nominee / multi-Grammy winner Bryce Dessner.

Based on the novella by Denis Johnson, Train Dreams looks at the life of Robert Grainier (Edgerton). He is living during a time of unprecedented change at the turn of the 20th century in the United States. The film captures of a way of life that no longer exists and celebrates the simple existence of one human.

"I think most of us will never have some great impact on history and yet we will lead very, very deep and beautiful lives. There's something very special about [Robert Grainier’s] story in that it is so specific to this one person's life, and yet there's a universality to it of a person trying to navigate a world that's changing around them constantly — kind of leaving you behind, even as you're still alive.”
